Isle of Sheppey Race

ALTO 122 took part in the 61st Round the Isle of Sheppey Race on 1st September.

The light, north-westerly winds for the first 10 miles from IOSSC to Shellness on the eastern tip of the island proved frustrating, being dead down wind.

On turning the corner, however, the beat up the Swale played to the ALTO’s strengths with good racing against the Fireballs and Ospreys.

The essential capsize to pass beneath The Kingsferry Bridge proved challenging against the fast, flooding tide, but once through, progress was good and ALTO 122 was the first monohull to cross the finish line.

10th place overall on corrected time after just under 5 hours' sailing.
